Frat Boy The Elder’s original due date was my birthday, which is next week.
When the ultrasound tech told me the due date when I was pregnant with him, I was all “NOOOOOOOO. That’s my birthday. Not. Sharing.” The tech mistakenly thought it would be sweet for us to share a birthday.
Um, nopey. My birthday is mine. MINE!
So when it came time to choose a date for the c-section, (Yes, I chose to have a c-section. And yes, I’d do it (and did do it) again. Wanna fight about it?) I chose the week before, so we would have a birthday buffer.
I wasn’t planning ahead. In the years between my childhood and his birth, I forgot about how important Halloween is to kids, and that we’d be planning birthday parties along with all of the Halloween festivities. I always feel a little bit bad for him that his birthday is eclipsed slightly by Halloween.
So I like to try and make a big deal out of it for him. Who am I kidding? Regardless of when his birthday is, I’d be making a big deal out of it. It’s how I roll.
Birthdays are my favorite.
When he got out of bed this morning, groggy from a Halloween hangover, he saw this:
Happy Sign Surprise is a fantastic Charlotte area company that specializes in special occasion yard signs. I can’t say enough about how easy it was to work with Jaime and how much FBTE loves his birthday signs.
In the sidebar to the right of this post, you’ll see an ad for Happy Sign Surprise. For all reservations placed (but not necessarily delivered) in November, you’ll get 10% off with the promo code SPARK. I highly recommend this for any occasion-there are tons of options and it was so much fun to pick ours. They delivered it early in the morning, and they pick it up that evening. Now I can’t wait for the next birthday, and not just because of the cake.
